1. Brief before records
Start with the entity name, funding purpose, decision deadline and an anonymised document index. We confirm whether the matter fits a record inspection and identify conflicts, such as an active dispute or a request for a statutory audit.
2. Written scope
The engagement letter names the record period, entities, expected documents, checks, exclusions, delivery date and fee. It also identifies who may answer clarification questions and receive the final report.
3. Controlled handover
After appointment, we provide secure transfer instructions. Files are indexed as received; unreadable scans and missing statement pages are raised at the outset. Original records remain unchanged.
4. Cross-record inspection
We compare periods, definitions and balances across the application, statements, accounts, tax evidence, debt schedules and forecast. Materiality is considered in the context of the funding request, while even small anomalies may be noted if they indicate an incomplete trail.
5. One clarification round
Questions are grouped by topic and linked to the relevant record. Responses and replacement documents are added to the index. Silence is recorded as unresolved; it is never converted into an assumption.
6. Memorandum and close-out
The final pack states the scope, records inspected, procedures performed, findings, applicant responses and limitations. A close-out call addresses interpretation. Any later amendment is versioned and dated.
Request an inspection brief when you know the file period and target decision date.
