Who this inspection is for
This engagement is designed for South African SME owners preparing a funding file, advisers conducting a pre-submission check, and fund managers who need an independent account of inconsistencies before credit deliberation.
What we inspect
We establish an evidence index, then compare the application form and funding motivation against bank statements, management accounts, annual financial statements, SARS documents, debtor and creditor schedules, existing finance agreements, quotations and cash-flow forecasts supplied in the brief. Figures are traced by period and basis; unexplained movements are logged rather than guessed away.
What you receive
- A document completeness schedule showing records received, period covered and apparent gaps.
- A reconciliation workbook covering material revenue, expense, cash, debt and tax references.
- An exceptions register that ranks findings by likely relevance to the stated funding request.
- A concise inspection memorandum suitable for discussion with the applicant or credit committee.
- One 45-minute close-out call to explain the record trail and answer questions.
Boundaries
This is an agreed-upon record inspection, not a statutory audit, assurance engagement, tax opinion, fraud investigation, credit score or lending recommendation. We do not alter source records or forecast whether the business will succeed. Identity verification, collateral valuation and legal due diligence are excluded unless separately appointed to qualified specialists.
How the engagement runs
- Scope confirmation: we agree the applicant entity, purpose, record period, document list and decision date.
- Secure handover: the client supplies legible records using the agreed transfer method. Do not send passwords or card credentials.
- Inspection: our reviewer indexes the file, performs cross-record checks and raises one consolidated clarification list.
- Reporting: after responses are considered, we issue the final memorandum and exceptions register.
Typical completion is five to eight business days after a complete file is received. Work is conducted from our Rosebank office and delivered remotely across South Africa.
Preparing the file
Use stable file names, provide complete statement periods, label draft accounts, and explain whether figures include or exclude VAT. Tell us about known restatements before work begins. A standard engagement generally covers one legal entity, up to twelve months of bank statements and one funding request. Larger groups, poor scans, multiple currencies or reconstructed ledgers require a revised estimate.
Fees and next step
Pricing is quote-based because record count, quality and urgency determine the review effort. A typical single-entity inspection starts at R18,500 excluding VAT. Send the document index—not confidential records—with your intended decision date. We will return a written scope, fee and secure handover instructions.
